The Task Is massive and massive But It Is Our Calling to Look After the Environment Responsibly!

What do you do when you think areas of the world to which you may never have given a second thought, and you may know small or nothing about these areas and the population who live there?

It is also critical to remember that we cannot be involved in all everywhere!

News From Maldives

Some of us have been asked to think praying for a few areas where the poverty of the population seldom makes the newspaper headlines. It is a absorbing exercise.

Matana in the country of Burundi is gradually recovering from twelve years of violent warfare. I had to look up Burundi just to refresh my memory and I have been in the countries not far away of Uganda and Kenya over these past six years.

In parts of Burundi there is a degree of strengthen and some harvests have tripled in size since working together began. The church of Jesus Christ in Burundi has played a major role in this measurable progress.

Honduras was another place I just had to check on to make sure I knew the location of that nation. The encouraging work of the Church of Jesus Christ there has been inspiration in helping the local peoples to make unavoidable vital improvements.

I was then directed to another critical situation in Bengal, India, where a woman had been tricked into prostitution. She felt trapped and scared and hopeless. Now, this is much an environmental issue as carbon footprints and icecap warming.

This woman's environment was aided by practical counselling and healthcare which gave her the power and quality find a way out of prostitution. These are weighty problems for all those involved.

Storms in Guatemala have cause chaos and havoc and some eighteen months after the devastation workers continue to pour their energies into restoring the damage and repairing the environment.

Governments have such a crucial role to play in these countries where suffering is weighty and where disease is rampant. In various nations the church of Jesus Christ has been encouraging local leaders to stand as Councillors and even think standing for Parliament. This is not easy because of tribal customs and tribal loyalties.

When discussing this particularly with able leaders in Kenya, these matters were mentioned as very real high hurdles which would have to be overcome, but with the help of Almighty God it is possible.

Men of integrity with vision and laudable goals and aims could do much to improve the environment in a comparatively short period, given the reserve of those in all the local churches.

When inspecting these political and moral issues, the plight of the road children come to mind. Think of their appalling environment as they live in holes in the ground or find a tunnel beside hot pipes.

Healthcare and feeding and a safe place to wash are all so critical for these boys and girls, and that is only the beginning of the weighty challenge.

Our God created this world and he expects us to be responsible stewards of His creation. We are called to look after the environment and take care of the environment! The task is immense.
